Write an essay to include the following: https://www.england.nhs.uk/tecs/improvement/tecs-cs/ List SIX current examples of new technologies that are being used to improve service efficiency at scale within the NHS. Use ONE example and discuss the benefits of using such technologies in practice ( 200 words). Here are the six current examples of new technologies. 1) IPaCs: Integrating pharmacy across care settings 2) NHS COIVD-19 app 3) Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) 4) NHS Login & NHS identity 5) Robotics & automated ward cabinets 6) Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (ePMA) & closed loop medicines administration. ePMA utilises the electronic prescribing and medicine administration system. The access to the system is given to healthcare professionals across different disciplines who are responsible for the patient. Since the clinical records are stored electronically, it is available anytime to access the information. Replacing paper charts into electronical charts also increases the security of the patient’s information as the NHS card is always required to open the system. The system provides safety, clinical, and legibility checks of the prescription by linking the patient’s medical history, relevant information such as allergies, interactions, and online resources to support the decision-making process. It is also linked with other systems like discharge letters so it significantly reduces the time taken for communication between in-charge discharge and post-charge teams. This leads to an overall reduction in prescribing and administration errors, ensuring patient safety. These in total increases the quality of patient care as healthcare providers can spend more time interacting with patients.
