Social Welfare
Axinn, 2017), “President Ronald Reagan uses the early years of his presidency to lay out a new departure for social welfare, one that would shift power from the federal government to the states, from the public sector to voluntary associations, from open-minded “entitlements” to federal aid to limited block grants.” It is not right for one to determine who deserves any form of aid or not based on their economical status. A lot of people were not making enough money to keep their families afloat and some of them were losing jobs. Household compositions were also changing, women were entering the workforce and people were just not having children. They were finding it difficult enough as it is to support themselves let alone a family. It is important for all to receive benefits if needed. The NASW is about equality and protecting those who are at a disadvantage. Do I agree or disagree? I find it to be unjust to discriminate against any individual seeking assistance. I think it is important that rules, regulations, and guidelines be kept up to date in current times to ensure that those who are legitimately in need are receiving the benefits they so desperately need. We have programs available that are suited to aid individuals with resources that are allowable. References Axinn, M.J.S. J. (2017). Social Welfare. [Capella].
