Qualitative Research Designs

In your own words describe the key characteristics of each of the five approaches to qualitative research—also sometimes referred to as qualitative “research designs”– including but not limited to: historical background and purpose, types of research question(s) each approach tends to focus on, common methods and procedures, and recognized challenges or limitations. For each approach, compare it to at least one of the other qualitative design as a way to contrast differing approaches. Present your response in the form of a table, PowerPoint presentation, or a model/figure/diagram. Try to embed the response in your post; if you cannot do this, upload it as an attachment. Note that translating information in multiple forms, such as a figure or table–or something other than a text-based presentation structured in paragraphs—can promote lateral learning and serve as a way to strengthen memory encoding. Be sure to draw on the assigned readings or other authoritative sources on qualitative research to support your post; follow APA 6th in-text citation and reference style.
