Assignment Description for News Article #1 For this assignment, please select a local newspaper of your choosing. Your assignment is to write a story that could be publishable in the news section of your chosen paper. This news story can be on any subject you so choose.  Additionally, the story can be hard news or soft news format. However, remember you need to consider the audience you are writing for and make sure you are writing a story for the news section. In order to complete this assignment, you will need a minimum of three sources. This needs to be three different interviews conducted to assist with your article. However, due to social distancing guidelines, I’m fine if these are done over the phone or virtually. The primary purpose of this assignment is to give you experience writing a news story.  The secondary purpose is for you to prove that you have journalistic skills—you can identify a good story, find the correct sources, clearly state your thoughts and ideas, and write an accurate account of the story. The article will need to be written in 12 pt. Times New Roman font, double spaced.  It should be approximately 450 to 600 words long, though the length of the story will be largely dependent on what you choose to write about.
