Nature of Piety

In 450-500 words, answer the following question as with as much of your voice as possible. Include in-text citations for all sources (including the text) that you use. The goal of this essay is to analyze argument forms. Much of philosophy is interested in arguments (not opinions), so we want to start understanding and analyzing the structure and veracity of arguments. In Euthyphro, Socrates and Euthyphro discuss the nature of piety (holiness). In a short essay, consider just one of the several definitions of piety that Euthyphro gives, and explain why Socrates rejects the definition. What are Socrates’s reasons for rejecting the definition. Do they make sense? Do you agree with those reasons? Apply Socrates’s argument to another concept (not piety, but something else) and determine if those reasons hold up for the new concept.
