Mitigation and Preparedness System
Project: Final Project: Mitigation and Preparedness SystemFor your Final Project, you develop a mitigation and preparedness system for one of three real communities. It is the culmination of course assignments related to risk assessmentpreparedness, and hazard mitigation. The Final Project should be a professional document that seamlessly ties in previously written work into which instructor feedback has been integrated. The final document should have an introduction, clear organization and headers, a summary, and a bibliography in APA style of all sources used in the creation of your document.Final ProjectYour Final Project must include the following elements:A description of the community you select: A risk assessment (including, but not limited to, demographic data, historical data, structural assessment, topography) of the hazards in the community. Use FEMA’s Hazard Profiling Worksheet and hand it in as an addendum to your Final Project. Explain the impacts these hazards had or might have on the community.A discussion of possible special populations in the community that might be more vulnerable to disasters. Include the process you used to identify any possible special populations. In addition, describe any additional social or cultural factors that may impact disaster response planning in your chosen community.A detailed description of what mitigation efforts, if any, should be undertaken. Include a discussion of any potential long-term impacts that might arise from those mitigation measures.A detailed description of your proposed preparedness system, including who is responsible for the system, who the key participants are, an outline of the planning process, and how often the system should be reviewed. Also provide detailed descriptions of the training and exercise program.
