LEADERSHIP AND TEAM BUILDING IN Continuous Quality Improvement(CQI) 1. Effective teamwork is critical to successful problem analysis, problem solving, and enacting change. Based on the assigned and supportive readings, apply the Core Competencies for Interprofessional Collaborative Practice competencies and concepts to a CQI initiative either experienced or anticipated in a clinical or practice setting. As a nurse engaged in advanced nursing practice, it is important for you to be a competent leader poised to lead interprofessional teams to address CQI initiatives. Answer the following in your Exemplar: • Briefly describe a CQI Initiative (actual or anticipated). Identify the task, and discuss the PDSA cycle including the anticipated or target outcome. • Discuss the Core Competencies for Interprofessional Collaborative Practice, and incorporate the role of the advanced practice nurse as team leader. Identify elements to improve team effectiveness. • Identify the stakeholders and their role as team members for this initiative. • What resources are needed to support the team? These may include financial resources, intellectual resources, i.e. field experts, and recognition for team members and rewards. • How will you ensure open “safe” team communications? • What decision making structure/process will you use? • What considerations must be taken into account to incorporate the organization’s culture? • What would define success of the team’s effectiveness? 2. To address the aforementioned questions, include 2–4 scholarly, peer-reviewed articles in addition to the assigned reading. 3. Document the assignment in a 4–5-page Microsoft Word document using current APA format. Include a title page and a reference list.
