Disaster Recovery Plan

A disaster recovery plan is an essential function of a business continuity plan. The disaster recovery plan (DRP) is a documented process or set of procedures to recover and protect access to the organization’s software, data, and/or hardware that are needed to resume the performance of normal, critical business functions after the event.  Personnel is a key component of the DRP. Organizations should include backup personnel in case of the unexpected loss of key personnel as well as how to recover their data. The overall idea is to develop a plan that will allow the IT department to recover enough data and system functionality to allow a business or organization to operate, even possibly at a minimal level. You are continuing your work in developing the business continuity plan for your organization. In this assignment, you will create a DRP for the IT Department for the scenario organization.  Note: Information about the IT Department will be from your previous assignment. Make sure you include your IT disaster recovery team members/structure. Note: Your plan will not necessarily cover all areas of the template such as financial but should include the vital information about the systems and procedures such as the internal technology team, application team and network administrator(s) and establish the scope of the activity, e.g., internal elements, external assets, third-party resources, linkages to other offices/clients/vendors. You should identify vendor emergency response capabilities.
