For this paper, I would like you to trace the history of the following theme to provide context for a modern event.  In your analysis, I would like you to trace the narrative history of the topic you have selected and analyze any patterns of change over time that you interpret.  Explain how this event provides a context for a modern event of historical importance. This paper should be between 4-6 pages, typed, double-spaced, in MLA or Chicago format, and with standard margins.  You should use parenthetical citations when you cite a statistic or take an excerpt directly from the textbook or lecture slides.  No works cited page is required unless you use a modern source. Things to make sure: The paper also includes a clear analysis of the relationship between the events. The proper historical background for the essay’s topic is addressed in the paper. This essay includes a clearly written thesis statement that properly addresses the essay prompt. The essay includes analysis of change over time. This essay includes the proper amount of evidence to back up the thesis outlined in the essay. Evidence comes from class materials and does not use outside sources, as required by the paper instructions. There is a balance between lecture and text book materials. A bonus for the use of primary sources.
