A Stand Against a Social Issue
How and where do we start?See the prompt below as well as all the requirements for your Research Essay major assignment over a social issue. Also, make sure that you take notes while I guide you in searching the databases. Finally, make sure you pay close attention to the materials that I provide you with and post in Schoology. This is a huge essay that demands and requires your full, undivided attention. Failure to do so will result in failing grades. As I said before, there is no wiggle room this marking period.RESEARCH ESSAY WRITING PROMPT:Write an essay in which you take a stand for or against a social issue and provide research, reasoning, and a solution. You will focus on two Areas of Influence to achieve this purpose.CHOOSING YOUR SOCIAL ISSUE**Think about what social issue matters the most to you. Choose an issue that affects you deeply and that you feel passionate about. In fact, choose 2 issues just in case one of them does not work out! Always have a backup plan!Although I would love to give you free choice, there must be a few limitations. The reasons for this are that some social issues are either too controversial, are issues that can lend themselves to hateful bias, are too new of social issues with not enough research in existence, or are simply social issues students tend to cling to and have been overused. You should incorporate your research to help prove your points.⦁ Refutation – Give a brief statement of a refutation of the opposing view(s) to make your reader aware (may also include research).⦁ Conclusion – After all of your evidence has been presentrated and/or your claims defended, pull your whole argument together in the last paragraph by showing how the evidence and research you have presented provides sufficient grounds for accepting your conclusions. You may also add here some conventional device to finish your essay, such as a prediction, a new example, a reference to the example with which you began (now seen in a new light), etc.
