A Fictional Literature
For the second option, the belletristic assignment, you need to find a belletristic source that is related to the topic of this class (however, there is no specific age limitation). This can be any kind of fictional literature, such as a novel, play, short story, poem, or an epic (but it cannot be a non-print medium such as a movie). You are encouraged to use a source from different times and cultures. Examples are: “Still Alice” by Lisa Genova, “Fathers and Sons” by Ivan Turgenev, “The Tale of Genji” by Shikibu Murasaki, Alice Munro’s short story “The Bear Came Over the Mountain” (from her collection “Hateship, Friendship, Courtship, Loveship, Marriage”), the Mahabharata (which includes the “Bhagavad Gita”), the plays “All My Sons” or “Death of a Salesman” by Arthur Miller, “Brokeback Mountain” by Annie Proulx, or aboriginal sources (e.g., the books by Basil Johnson). You are expected a) to write a short summary of the source and b) to relate the content to developmental psychology (around 2 pages). Please submit this assignment as an electronic document on Convas.
