A Critical Literature Review
OVERVIEWThis assignment requires you to write an outline for a Critical Literature Review (CLR). A CLRdiffers from a typical literature review in that you are not only interested in what the researchsays about a particular topic, but also how well the research says what it says about the topic. Inparticular, you are concerned with the strengths and weaknesses of the research design andmethods for the studies you review.For this assignment, you will submit an OUTLINE of the CLR, instead of a full paper. Thisoutline will capture the key research findings and methodological strengths and weaknesses inthe research literature you review. In addition, the outline will include abrief research studyproposal that addresses at least one of the methodological weaknesses you have uncovered. Asample outline is available on the course site for guidance.PREREQUISITESIn Critical Analysis Assignment #3, you identified the research question and at least sevenreferences for your chosen topic. These will be the foundation for your CLR.● You should have a summary of each article at your fingertips. The abstract does notprovide adequate information for judging the quality of the article.● You also should use the Quality Rating Protocol (QRP) with each primary researcharticle to identify strengths and weaknesses of the studies and determine your numericalratings. For secondary research articles it is most important to summarize what theauthors consider to be the strengths and weaknesses in the studies they reviewed.
